Ghadir's Message a Pillar of Islamic Unity and Prophetic Continuity, Scholars Affirm at Indian Gathering

The timeless message of Ghadir Khumm serves as the axis of Islamic unity and the continuation of the Holy Prophet's mission, scholars and intellectuals declared at a grand celebration in Amroha, India, stressing the urgent need to transmit the authentic teachings of wilayat to the younger generation.

Hawzah News Agency- The auspicious occasion of Eid al-Ghadir was marked with a vibrant gathering of clerics, thinkers, university professors, and students in the northern Indian city of Amroha. Speakers at the event explored the historical, doctrinal, and cultural dimensions of the Ghadir event, reaffirming its unparalleled place in Islamic history and its enduring relevance for the global Muslim community.

Ghadir: An Indisputable Historical Fact

Addressing the audience, speakers underscored that the declaration of Imam Ali's guardianship at Ghadir Khumm is among the definitively established events of Islamic history. They noted that the incident has been transmitted through massively recurrent chains of narration in authoritative Islamic sources, as well as in the works of scholars from various schools of thought. The speakers insisted there exists no room for doubt regarding the core occurrence of the historic proclamation.

The speakers further cautioned that certain biased currents and individuals have, throughout history, attempted to diminish the significance and original message of Ghadir. By casting doubt over the meaning of the term "mawla" and reducing it simply to "friend," they said, adversaries have sought to obscure the foundational message of Ghadir and the divinely-ordained station of the Commander of the Faithful.

Knowledge as the Capital of Humanity

Dr. Jamshid Kamal, a poet and college principal, addressed the students in attendance by highlighting knowledge and wisdom as the most outstanding traits of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). He stated that human progress and elevation are contingent upon the pursuit of knowledge, awareness, and insight. Dr. Kamal noted that the Imam regarded knowledge as a capital that multiplies in value the more one invests in it, serving simultaneously as the firmest support and protector along the path of life.

Quranic Mandate and the Primacy of Wilayat

Hojatoleslam Kawsar Mujtaba, an Indian preacher, drew upon Quranic verses and historical evidence to elaborate on the centrality of the Ghadir proclamation. He emphasized that the weight of the message was such that God Almighty, in the Holy Quran, commanded the Prophet with particular insistence to deliver it—a divine order that underscores the destiny-shaping role of Ghadir in Islamic history.

In another segment of the program, Hojatoleslam Shahwar Naqvi, an Indian researcher and scholar, critically examined the lexical meanings and applications of the term "mawla." He challenged the interpretation advanced by some that confines the word solely to "friend," presenting academic, historical, and literary arguments to clarify its authentic meaning as denoting authority and leadership.

Transmitting the True Message to the Youth

Hojatoleslam Ahsan Akhtar Suroosh, another prominent Indian cleric, delivered an address outlining the multifaceted dimensions of the Ghadir event and its guiding impact on the Islamic Ummah. He stressed the necessity of correctly and rigorously presenting the message of Ghadir to the younger generation, calling their acquaintance with the true significance of this great event one of the pressing needs of contemporary Islamic society.

Honoring Academic Excellence

The ceremony, held in a spiritual and cordial atmosphere, concluded with a special tribute to academic achievement. Female and male students of the Bani Hashim Association who had attained top ranks and outstanding grades in their examinations were honored with awards and certificates of appreciation, reinforcing the link between faith and the pursuit of excellence.

The Ghadir celebrations in Amroha stand as a reflection of the vibrant devotional and intellectual life of Shia communities across the Indian subcontinent, where the message of Imam Ali's guardianship continues to inspire scholarship, unity, and service.
